The Professional Cookbook Challenge

I was in awe of Julie and Julia when I was younger. I watched the movie countless times and I read through the book this past year. Elementary through early middle school all I wanted was to become a chef. I created my own recipes, my iconic herb chicken with mashed potatoes and garlic and herb gravy was my staple meal. When I wasn’t in the kitchen I tended to my chickens and watched Food Network relentlessly. Somewhere along the way I lost my love for cooking and I really never cooked in high school or my first few years of college unless I wanted pasta with butter and Parmesan cheese. But over the past 3 years, I have rediscovered my passion for cooking and how much I love food.

In lieu my love for Julie and Julia, I have created my very own challenge for myself to work on my knowledge and skills within the kitchen. I have always thought about going to culinary school, but was not sure if that was the right path for me. Instead, I bought The Professional Chef cookbook/textbook from The Culinary Institute of America, with the challenge to myself to cook through the entire book. Well I bought it right after getting married in July of 2021, and I have finally committed to my personal challenge I have set for myself.

Follow along with me as I track my progress cooking through 606 recipes in this book.
